Fleming And John - Eldorado -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Everyone knows I've been a Jeff Lynne fan ever since Utopia started covering Do Ya 25 years ago. Glad to see I'm not alone." - Todd Rundgren Predominantly American and fast becoming an institution there, tribute albums have become incredibly popular in recent years. Now, Jeff Lynne's music has received the "tribute treatment" with Not Lame Recordings' double CD, LYNNE ME YOUR EARS (NLLYNN1). Released in the USA and Japan only, the CD presents Jeff Lynne's incomparable fusion of classical music and classic rock 'n' roll to a new, younger audience in an innovative, vibrant and in some cases, radical manner. "Highlights are p-Lynne-tiful, from departures like Todd Rundgren's adult contempo-electronica Bluebird Is Dead to Brit Invasion revivalists who put a rockin' move on ELO material, a la the Shazam's Twilight." - Entertainment Weekly, April 26, 2002 This is a stunning collection of songs and is now available outside of the USA exclusively via FTM - and at a discount! 32 reworked and reinterpreted songs showcase Lynne's music from the 60's and 70's with THE IDLE RACE and THE MOVE, through the global superstar years of the 70's and 80's with ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA, to more recent work as solo artist and producer and as a member of the legendary TRAVELING WILBURYS. An inspired and diverse cross-section of talented artists include: Todd Rundgren (who covers Bluebird Is Dead); Sixpence None The Richer; Jeffrey Foskett (Beach Boys, Brian Wilson); Jason Falkner (Jellyfish, Air); Carl Wayne (The Move, The Hollies, Roy Wood), The Shazam; Tony Visconti (T-Rex, David Bowie); Earl Slick (David Bowie); Mitch Easter (Let's Active, REM) Jamie Hoover (Spongetones); Richard Barone (Bongos); and many more. (Hans Rotenberry of The Shazam is shown here with Jeff Lynne.) "I'm a songwriter - and you can be that forever" - Jeff Lynne Every tribute artist involved presents Jeff Lynne's incomparable fusion of classical music and classic rock 'n' roll to a new, younger audience in an innovative, vibrant and dare we say, radical manner. The double CD features 32 tracks plus a booklet featuring a Jeff Lynne career history, specific to the tribute album cover versions, written by ELO archivist Rob Caiger. Carl Wayne - STEPPIN' OUT: "All good songs are made to be interpreted. ELO perhaps, give the definitive versions of Jeff's songs but somebody else can come along and give a different interpretation and it's equally appealing. What attracts me about Jeff's songs is that they all have a certain sadness, a soulful feel." Tony Visconti - MR. BLUE SKY: "I have a vague recollection that when Roy Wood and Jeff were forming ELO or Wizzard (there's the vagueness) I was asked to play keyboards because I did a lot of string arranging for The Move. I had to disappoint them by saying that I wrote on guitar then, not keyboard and I could just barely get through Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On on piano. But Mr. Blue Sky was a favorite of both Bowie's son and my son when it came out, so it was played to death in our homes. I ended up loving it very much and gaining deep respect for what Jeff had achieved since his early association with Roy." Lynne Me Your Ears was released on 26 February in the USA and in Japan but is not scheduled for UK, European release or Rest Of The World release. Taking everyone at Not Lame Recordings by surprise, the first pressing sold out immediately. But FTM (in conjunction with the record company) have secured copies and are pleased to be able to make this CD available to Jeff Lynne and ELO fans at a DISCOUNTED price in the UK, Europe and the Rest Of The World. (One import specialist in the UK is currently offering the CD at £15.99 plus postage). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------END--
