This really is an essential purchase for lovers of late sixties British Psychedelia. Essentially it is an extension of Mojo`s Fab Set "Acid Drops, Spacedust & Flying Saucers". Where selections are familiar to the listener the compilation concentrates on alternate takes. There are no less than 6 unreleased items of considerable interest and the set concentrates on listing the tracks in chronological order. Highlights include but are not limited to the following: The Title Track by The Orange Machine, Lady Caroline by Velvet Fog, Love, Hate, Revenge by Episode Six (including Ian Gillan & Roger Glover), Circles by The Fleur De Lys & Lullaby by Grapefruit, which is a particular favorite. The package takes you from the origins of Psychedelic Music in the mid sixties to the time when Prog Rock impacted. The liner notes are exhaustive and of much interest to those collectors of Psychedelic artefacts. As the writer says, because much of this colourful music was rooted in clubs such as UFO & Middle Earth in London by the time alot of the bands were intune with the scene, the scene had already moved on to more Progressive Rock pastures. To this extent these gems were aleady redundant prior to their release. Which is a great shame because as this set ably testifys, this music has never died and continues to pick up fans by the droves. Long may it continue and long may we be blessed with exquisite sets like this (by Ben Watkins).
